The Weekend- The Hills
FKA TWigs- Video Girl
These two music videos are key examples of how this new genre of music (PBR&B) is being represented and expressed. Both videos consist of events demonstrating themes that are consider as thought provoking or maybe controversial. Both of these videos contain the artists which links in with their lyrics meaning they maybe singing about real ice events in their lives, his is a common practice for this genre as the majority of artists tend to sing beyond the topic of Love and relationships, which is common for R&B singers, but go onto explore deeper themes and emotions. Because of this exploration of deeper themes the videos showcase elements that mirror certain meanings in the songs, FKA twig's Video Girl is all in black and white, this potentially serving as a comment on the song's dark themes.
Something i found inspirational in The Weekend's The hills is the way the editing represented a shift in pace, the majority of the video is filmed in one shot with an edit only vein used when the pace of the song slows down to potentially resemble a transition.
