Visit to the National Media Museum in Bradford

As part of my primary research I visited the national Media Museum in Bradford, UK. The visit was practical in allowing to learn about modern ways of sharing information which made me understand how I could promote my artist and music video to my target audience. The trip also had interesting display demonstrating how technical equipment is used in professional settings,

This display is showing the evolution of technology through the ages as a way to make people understand how our forms of communicating has broaden in such a shot period of time

Pitch Feedback

After my pitch I had my audience  write down their opinions on my ideas for my music video. When reviewing this feedback I saw that the majority of people questioned the accessibility of certain resources. I took this into account and considered altering some ideas for props which would mean they are easier to access such as items i already have access too. People also pointed out the lack of information and detail n certain aspects of the pitch meaning i'd have to review my ideas further so to allow me to have a clear understanding  on what i will do for my final outcome, they also felt that the fact that my chosen song didn't have a video could possibly limit me.
Many of the viewers liked the idea of the juxtaposition between light and dark i wanted to include in my video and also saw that the Pinterest of ideas consisted of a clear views in my inspirations for my ideas.

As a way to receive criticism and feedback on my ideas we presented them through a pitch to a group of people from my potential target market, This is a script I hope would guide me in my presentation to my class peers.

Lyric Analysis

using AZ lyrics and Rap Genius i felt that i could create an analysis of  the song so i have some understanding on what it is expressing and how i can interpret it in my music video.

My interpretation of the lyrics is that the song is about someone who feels trapped to the extent that they can no longer breath, Using metaphors similar to emerging from the ocean and grabbing a breath of air. It seems that the protagonist feels restrained from being able to properly express themselves as someone else is preventing them from doing so. This causes the protagonist to feel bored and in need of more excitement and once they have found that excitement  its like a fresh air for them. With this concept i can have an understanding on what type of narrative i could have in my video which would match the lyrics of my song.

This Pintrest board represents my inspirations behind my ideas for costumes, scenes and setting for my music video. I’m inspired by old fashioned retro outfits and styles. This is because I want to video to look and seem old so many of the outfits will relate to this era.For the beginning of the video there will be great use of bright colours as I want the situations shown in the video to seem ideal and perfect, this will then transition to the use of minimalistic lighting so to create more menacing dark shadows as a way to represent the protagonist's sudden moment of realisation and understanding. 

Synopsis and Story Board for Video

The video starts off with the artist in, what seems, to be a perfect  date scenario with a good looking and well dressed partner who seems to be stationary throughout the video. We then see different scenes such as a dinner party where the guests are also stationary, this is to reflect on their 'plastic nature' that the artist is now sick of. As she is breaking free from her ideal world the scenes become muddled and she finds an escape in the woods. By now the scenes become darker as as the artist's sudden realization of the trough leads her to refuse the ideal and colorful lifestyle she now considers to be a façade.

Asking permission for using my chosen track

Using the contact details found in Nao's (my chosen music artist's) Soundcloud page, seen below circled in red, I found the email of her General Manager, which was also in her official Facebook page.

I then composed an email to the her general manager asking permission to use her track and sent it. I did this because the song has copywright  protection which means it is protected from being used by others without permission, the copyright prevents people from distrebuting, copying or putting this work on the internet which would mean if i had not asked permission i would of been braking the law.
